CLIMATE CHANGE: A LETTER FROM THE FUTURE (A project by 4ºA)

Dear great grandparents,
We are writing to you from the year 2080, we are your great grandchildren. It has been a long time since our opportunity passed. You were warned for years but you did not do anything. The word civilization has no meaning anymore, we are facing our own extinction.
But why? Why were you so blind and selfish? If you had taken action, we would not have to write this letter. If you had got together, if you had fought back, we would still have a chance.
Nowadays, most of the life on Earth has died or is severely affected by pollution. Tsunamis, tornados, hurricanes, floods and droughts have led to a wave of destruction on our planet. Oceans have warmed and the sea level has risen so much that many towns and cities around the world have disappeared. Catastrophic floods have swallowed them. Your houses are now underwater or in the middle of a lifeless wasteland.
Sun radiation is constantly burning the surface of Earth. The heat is extreme, temperatures have risen to such an extent that heat waves have killed millions of people. Warmer temperatures have increased water demands and evaporation. This fact has affected agriculture, transportation and wildfires. Our situation is desperate.
Two thirds of the animals are extinct and plants don´t grow any more. Technological advances have stopped because scientists are focused in finding new sources of water and food. Now, they are also planning to move people to Mars.
We have no future, we are fading away.
Yours sincerely,
Your great grandchildren.
